We are approaching the end of our math unit: Multiplying and Dividing Fractions. Students have been showing multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions using area models, number lines, and shapes.
In Social Studies, we are learning about where the French, Spanish, English, and Dutch explorers settled in the New World. Students have taken notes on the interactions between Native Americans and early European colonists, the foods eaten by colonists, and the types of structures built in the different areas. We have begun to learn about some important English colonists such as William Penn and Roger Williams. In the upcoming weeks, we will be focusing more closely on the 13 English colonies and their leaders.
Our book clubs are coming to a close as students are finishing reading their books. Students have enjoyed discussing characters, authors' writing styles, and more in groups of 4-6. As a closing activity, book club groups work together to create a script for a book talk and agree upon one representative to deliver the book talk.
Please check the announcements tab for upcoming events and important dates. The sign up for spring conferences is now available, if you need the link and access code please email me. Have a great weekend!
