We are starting out the new year with some new topics of study and finishing up some others!
Writing: We are nearing the publishing stage of our Research Reports on the ancient Maya, Aztec, and Inca civilizations.
Reading: As we wrap up our nonfiction reading unit, we are set to begin our first round of Book Clubs! Our book club selection will all be of the historical fiction genre.
Social Studies: We are beginning our European Exploration unit with the life of Christopher Columbus, his reasons for voyaging westward, navigational tools used, and the effects of European explorers on the native people of the Caribbean.
Math: Our work with fractions continues as students learn about common denominators and ways to use equivalent fractions to add and subtract fractions.
