In class, we read a text that was an ad, designed to persuade you to buy the product. It's not an argument, it's a persuasive text. It is trying to persuade you to buy something. We found that sometimes, ads are not all that persuasive! Some of the texts you'll look at during readers workshop today will feel unsubstantiated like this, stating a claim that does not have good evidence. Other texts, you'll find will make stronger arguments.
