Looking for some extra science resources as MCAS approaches? This website has some great review games and activities: http://eduplace.com/parents/hmsc/content/vocabgames/#g5
Math: Students have been looking at graphs and analyzing the data and patterns they represent such as rate. This week, we will continue to review this unit as well as practicing the skill of writing algebraic expressions to represent the data in graphs.
Writing: The research-based argument essay has opened students up into the world of opinion writing. We are currently drafting letters to Mrs. Colella and Mrs. Gray posing arguments with reasons and evidence on the topic of chocolate milk. Should it be served at Bridge? Is it healthy? Ask your student!
Reading: Students have begun an Argument and Advocacy unit which mirrors our writing unit nicely. Students have been placed in research teams based on interest. Reading about issues such as plastic bags and expeditions such as climbing Mount Everest, students are analyzing information, looking for claims, reasons, and evidence posed by authors, and forming arguments themselves.
